On August 29th the ALS Association announced that the #IcebucketChallenge had just surpassed raising $100 million dollars. The viral sensation took the country by storm this summer. While there was reason to be concerned with slacktivism, we believe that this campaign should be celebrated for what it is: an amazing windfall for those working hard to help individuals afflicted with this horrible disease.
The #IceBucketChallenge accomplished in a few weeks what some organizations seek out for years: a national movement that attracts millions of donations. There are nonprofits that have strategically implemented wacky campaigns with some varying degrees of success but none quite like the ice bucket phenomenon.
In honor of the campaign reaching its $100 million milestone, we created the below infographic to TRY to depict the incredible enthusiasm and effort that took over our social streams and lead to this monumental achievement!

Recent update from Facebook: “Between June 1 – September 1, more than 17 million videos related to the ice bucket challenge were shared to Facebook. These videos were viewed more than 10 billion times by more than 440 million people.”
