#GivingTuesday is a viral giving movement that focuses on collaborating with your friends, family and colleagues to raise money for causes. It is a response to all of the shopping and consumerism that takes over during this time of year. December 2 is a day for your organization to leverage a global social media movement to receive vital funds that are outside of established fundraising strategies.
For our Third-party or Fundraising Platform clients, your RallyBound instance is perfectly positioned to capitalize on the day.
It is no secret that social media, and hashtags more specifically, can carry peer to peer fundraising to great benefit. #GivingTuesday is a built-in sensation that can be properly leveraged for good in conjunction with the right tools. Your fundraising platform provides the ability to capture the fervor, raise awareness for your cause and earn new funds from an even larger pool of donors.
How should I use RallyBound?
There are 2 ways to set-up a #GivingTuesday campaign.
1. Create a Virtual Fundraiser
Your virtual fundraising campaign will only have a Join or Register button, along with a Donate button. See this great example from Bear Necessities.
Some clients may not have this template activated within your instance. If this is the case please visit: rallybound.freshdesk.com and request one. Be sure to allow the team at least 48 hours to enable the template.
2. Personal Fundraisers
The beauty of your fundraising platform is it provides a myriad of campaign type options. Prompt your constituents to get engaged and push for #GivingTuesday. The virality of the movement has instant intrigue and if asked to participate appropriately there is no telling how much power it could have!
Start spreading the word
The good people at Giving Tuesday have provided a variety of collateral, press releases, logos, etc for you to utilize. These items can be sent using RallyBound and your additional outreach channels to spread the word and create excitement.
One last thing to remember is that #GivingTuesday is a movement to dislodge the popular view of holiday consumerism. Experiment with the campaign, push to innovate and don’t hesitate to be creative. Most importantly, enjoy it! As we enter the holiday season even just a smile to someone in need is important and contagious. 🙂
